Say Hello to Diego O’Hare of the Honors Program Student Advisory Board!
It’s that time of year again: the Honors Program Student Advisory Board is expanding! This week we’d like to introduce one of our new members, Diego O’Hare. We look forward to his contribution on the Board as well as his impact here at CU. Read below to get to know more about Diego and, if you happen to see him on campus, don’t be afraid to say hello!
Tell us about yourself!
Hi, my name is Diego! I’m originally from North Denver and have lived in Denver my entire life. That said, I’m also an Irish citizen and I travel to Ireland pretty frequently. I’ve had Type 1 Diabetes for almost six years, and it’s actually been a huge factor in my life. I really enjoy reading–especially authors like Bukowski and Hemingway–and I’ve recently gotten into bouldering. I also do lots of hiking. I’m excited to be entering my senior year here at CU and plan on graduating a semester early!
What do you enjoy most about your studies here at CU?
For my college career, I decided to major in Political Science. I really enjoy reading political theory and learning the ins-and-outs of the American political system. The Political Science department has really enabled me to explore my interests regarding all things “politics.” Thus far, class discussions and interacting with other people in my field of study has been really engaging and fun.
What is your favorite memory of being in the Honors Program?
My favorite memory of being in the Honors Program was my first ever honors class in college: Theory of Western Political Thought with Dr. Chadwick. It was honestly the most immersive and interesting class I had ever had at the time, and it pushed me to read literature outside my academic limit and/or comfort zone.
Why did you join the Advisory Board & what do you hope to get out of it?
I thought joining the Honors Program Student Advisory Board would be a great opportunity to involve myself with the honors community and meet new people. I wish to help create a community that better represents all of CU Boulder. I would also like to increase awareness surrounding the Honors Program since it has benefited me so much.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
I have an obese dog named Buddy. He’s a half corgi and half beagle mix!
