What are you studying at CU?
I’m a junior and I study Classical Piano and Business. My major is Music, and I am getting a minor in Business and a certificate in Entrepreneurship.
What are you career aspirations?
My career aspirations are to use my music to help others. I would love to get a masters in Music Therapy and become a full-time music therapist. By pursuing this career, I can use music to help many different populations: children with disabilities, elderly with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, trauma patients … the possibilities are endless.
What is your favorite part of the Music School?
My favorite part of the Music School is the tight knit, supportive community that it embodies. I have had the same piano professor (Alejandro Cremaschi) and friends in my classes since freshman year. Additionally, I interact with graduate students on a daily basis, and feel supported by them, too. I also am very connected with my academic advisor (Victoria Ibarra), and know I can go to her with any questions, even if I don’t have an appointment. Every time I walk into the music school, I see someone I know — whether it be a student, professor, or advisor — and get to touch base with them about how they are doing. I appreciate this community because it lets me know that, no matter how busy or stressful school can get, I will always see someone that brightens my day.
What is you favorite part of the Honors Program?
I have lots of favorite parts about the Honors Program, but a couple of them are the Honors Classes offered as well as my experience in the Smith Hall Honors RAP. Freshman year, I was so scared that I wouldn’t make friends with the same values as me. But, living in Smith and going to Honors RAP events allowed me to meet incredible friends that I am still close to today. One of my favorite memories from the Honors RAP was going on a sunrise hike with peers from my dorm, as well as studying with friends almost every day. The Honors classes are all small — under twenty people. I really appreciate this, and I always feel like I get the most out of every honors class I take. I have taken two Honors writing classes, one Honors science class, and one Honors Literature and the Arts class. There are always Honors events happening, and it is nice to know that I can go to these and be included in the Honors community.
