It’s Time to Vote!
As June draws to a close, so too does the chance to vote in the Colorado 2020 primary elections. Although delving into the world of politics may not be easy, it remains important that each of our voices be heard and acknowledged by our governing institutions. To help traverse the Colorado 2020 primary elections, below is a compilation of sources that look into the political candidates and share critical information on the elections.
Romanoff vs. Hickenlooper
Possibly the highlight of the Colorado 2020 primary elections is the open spot in the U.S. Senate, which is being wrestled between candidates John Hickenlooper and Andrew Romanoff. Neither Hickenlooper or Romanoff have been afraid to share their thoughts on matters concerning both the people of Colorado and the encompassing nation; while they have communicated similar perspectives on some subjects, so too have they voiced differing opinions on others.
As it is important to weigh the pros and cons of Romanoff and Hickenlooper respectively, making a decision is rarely an easy task. Thankfully, however, there are several resources that can aid in this process, one of which is CPR News. CPR News provides a side-by-side comparison of the two Senate candidates. It communicates their approaches to certain dilemmas, their opinions on national matters, and their game plans to helping those in need. One thing worth noting about CPR News is that they not only discuss the differences between the two candidates, but also the similarities between them. This can be quite helpful to attaining a broader understanding of both Romanoff’s and Hickenlooper’s campaigns. Another comparative source that may be of use is The Colorado Sun, which has organized the two U.S. Senate candidates’ information in an easily navigable manner.
For those of you who prefer to weigh your options independently, a good place to begin is on the candidates’ personal campaign sites. To learn more about Romanoff and his campaign, click here. Similarly, you can find information on Hickenlooper’s campaign through his site, here.
CU Regent
For many students and faculty of the University of Colorado schools, who gets to assume the next role as CU Regent is incredibly important. In the scope of Congressional District 2, there are three final candidates in the race: David Gross, Aaron Harber, and Callie Rennison. Broadly speaking, all three candidates have one primary goal in mind: to make college more accessible and affordable for all. This is a bold statement, and one that many of us can get on board with. The candidates diverge from one another, however, when discussing how they plan on achieving this. Due to the lack of political coverage, it is best to compare these candidates both in your own time and at your own pace. As a starter, feel free to visit these candidates’ personal sites to learn more about their campaigns and ideals. For David Gross, click here. For Aaron Harber, click here. And for Callie Rennison, click here.
