SciTalks: Emerging Adulthood with Dr. Schwartz
It’s that time again; SciTalks are back! Tune in below to learn more about the approaching SciTalk with Dr. Schwartz.
What is it?
For those who don’t know, SciTalks are casual gatherings where CU professors discuss a scientific topic of choice with students. Dr. Schwartz’s SciTalk will be encompassing the challenges and possibilities of early adulthood. More specifically, the psychological experiences, challenges, and strengths of those eighteen to twenty-five years of age. For many of us, the discussion will be relatable as well as eye-opening.
Who is hosting?
This SciTalk will be hosted by Dr. Jenny Schwartz, an HRAP professor of psychology and neuroscience. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Brown University in 1989 and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Emory University in 1996. Her research has focused on depression among children, adolescents, and medically ill populations. Aside from teaching in the classroom, Dr. Schwartz also loves chatting with students. So don’t be afraid to ask questions!
When & Where?
As always, the safety of our participants comes first. Therefore, to match the changes in campus life, this SciTalk will be hosted remotely via Zoom. It will take place on Tuesday, September 15 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm MDT. All of this information (as well as the Zoom link) is available on Canvas via the Honors Scholars Program page.
Why should I attend?
Although this SciTalk isn’t mandatory for everyone, you don’t want to miss it! Dr. Schwartz plans on covering some psychological topics that are unique to many of us in college, especially with campus life missing a level of intimacy. In the end, this event could help you to increase your emotional intelligence, stay strong in the face of future challenges, and open your eyes to the possibilities awaiting you.
