CU Resources for Housing and Food
At this unusual and chaotic time, some students are finding themselves in precarious situations in terms of access to housing and food. The campus has resources for students facing these challenges.
The colorado.edu/coronavirus website adds new information daily and is good place to start looking for resources.
Food: Housing and Dining (303-492-7260) and ODECE (odece@colorado.edu) have meal cards available for any students who are food insecure. Students can take food back to wherever they are living (not limited to just one meal’s worth). If you are a student and living in the Boulder area this semester and are in need of food, you can fill out the Emergency Food Request Form and someone will contact you. You can also email food@colorado.edu, and they will work with you to find resources.
Housing: CU has liaisons who work with the city and with local landlords to advocate for students all of the time. Right now they are also able to advocate for students whose housing is suddenly precarious. There’s a link/phone number on the coronavirus page (colorado.edu/coronavirus) where students (and others in the CU community) who are having trouble with rent can get in touch with these advocates and find out what can be done (Contacts: Mediation Services at 303-441-4364 & mediation@bouldercolorado.edu and Off-campus Housing at och@colorado.edu & 303-492-7053).
Mental Health: Wardenburg and other centers are providing psychological support and can meet remotely. Links to access this care are on the coronavirus page (colorado.edu/coronavirus). Reach CAPS here www.colorado.edu/counseling/.
Other: See a list of other campus resources here www.colorado.edu/today/2018/09/28/campus-support-resources.
If you or someone you are close to is struggling with food or housing insecurity, or physical or mental health concerns, please reach out to campus and community resources and faculty and staff. A trusted mentor or advisor can be your advocate and help you find the resources you need.
Please pass this information along to any people or groups you think might find it useful.
