Honors Film Series: Gender Revolution
The honors program hosted a “Gender Revolution” honors film series on February 28th, 2017. The event was presented by Dr. Zachary Owens, a sociology professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder who specializes in the research areas of sexual identity formation and management, homophobia, and masculinities. The film that was shown and discussed as part of this honors film series was National Geographic’s “Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric”. The conversation that followed mainly revolved around exploring our rapidly-changing understanding of sex and gender. Dr. Owens led a captivating talk on how gender identity has transformed in recent years, and the accompanying documentary further examined this recent shift in culture and societal views.
